Quite interesting.

A reporter’s obligation is to find the truth, but for stories like this we also weigh the potential of incentivizing harassers, of amplifying unconfirmed claims.

You realize “Appeal to Emotion” is a widely accepted logical fallacy, right? I didn’t just make it up. The last paragraph is an almost textbook example too.

and if she were an escort now or in the past nintendo would have been perfectly justified in their actions, and not only that they specifically would have kept quiet about the nature of the job, it would actually be a case of good guy nintendo and leave alot of people eating crow.

I just did, now same goes for you. Post citations for everything mentioned in the article. You will be docked 10 points for every instance of false equivalence, and 30 points for examples that require maximizing a tiny portion of what happened while minimizing the actually important bits. you start with 100 points, go.

That sounds like Carl Schmitt, which is a little scary given that Schmitt was a Nazi.

Has she flat out said she is not/was not a escort? has anyone asked her, point blank? She certainly does NOT have to answer to anyone her life her business, but at the same time, why not simply answer the question categorically and say what her second job was? Combine her refusal to do so, the metadata from the pics,

Ask and you shall receive:

“A reporter’s obligation is to find the truth, but for stories like this we also weigh the potential of incentivizing harassers, of amplifying unconfirmed claims”

Well those photos did have Nintendo items in them, and I guess she tweeted about selling them.

Patrick going on Twitter after Allison got fired and he published his first story crying, “Why am I the only journalist covering this??” made me question his actual motivations. Other sites waited for the actual news to come in before jumping the gun and misreporting, which he did.

My limited attention to this story came away with people getting mad at her for claiming she was censoring games, when she wouldn’t have the power, and didn’t seem to want to.

I personally don’t think it should be illegal, but since it currently is I really don’t think a company like Nintendo should be expected to stand by her for that. I wouldn’t expect them to stand by her if they caught her selling pot either, which is something else that shouldn’t be illegal.

It wasn’t the photo shoot Nintendo had a problem with, it was because she is (allegedly) a prostitute, which is illegal in her state.

Well one can actually make an effort to hide private details, thoughts, or photos like that at least. Rapp freely posted her photo shoot pictures or pictures of her in lingerie on her twitter. And even though her second job was done under an alias that alias, which if the evidence is true, had a public presence on the

To be fair, she does support the legalization of child pornography (something she never hid). Does this mean she should be fired for it? No, because your personal beliefs shouldn’t effect your job. It doesn’t mean she should have all this personal info on her dug up either.

Yes, the great thing about facts is that they suddenly change if reported by people you hate.

Honestly, I think articles like this are intentionally inflammatory. I say this for a few reasons:

I don’t have a pony in this race, but it seems like the methods of both sides are similar (sans the death threats). Digging, exposing, calling for dismissals. It’s the wild west out there.

I don’t know what else to take from these articles any more. Harassers are vile, gross, sad and horrible people, and Allison Rapp is a complete bonehead for posting those pictures on her Marketing Account for the most conservative gaming company in the world.
