At the risk of sounding like I’m man-splaining this, in product development, it’s very common to create buying personas and name them. Perhaps the term “avatar” is not a good one, but using a persona is often very useful in the decision-making process. Understanding the gender of your likely buyer persona is necessary…

This was lazy writing by Julianne. It’s been publicly stated by the creators that they made the decision for the reduced episode count, as you say.
