THIS. I’m an HR Manager and I have been witness to Hiring Managers asking taboo or illegal questions simply because they didn’t know any better.

I tip around 40%, but I have a long standing relationship with my stylist. He custom mixes my hair color and I have very thick hair that takes requires time on his book for the same price. He earns his 40%. He also comps me new products once in a while.

This is something the Stylist should worry about, not you. I can typically tell within the first 10 minutes of a service if a client wants to chit chat or just chill out and relax— and I try hard to either entertain them or respect their quiet time.

Yes. Depending on the salon, quite a bit. And retail is a huge money maker for salons because the mark up is insane. The salon I work at is constantly urging us to push product — they have contests, set monthly goals, etc.

Updo’s are better done on slightly dirty hair — otherwise, I usually try to show up regularly shampooed and styled so my stylist can see what I like to look like every day/how much effort I (don’t) put in.

“Just a trim.” ?

“because the idea of literally sitting on a raised chair while women scrub and polish my feet is just gross.”

Awesome! Thanks for the advice! And congrats on your success!

So do you stick to a strict 1200 calorie a day diet? Or do you consume more calories on the days that you go for a run?

I just started using my Fitbit Charge HR and MyFitnessPal together. Question — Are you intaking the number of calories that MyFitnessPal originally estimates based on your demographics and weight loss goals? Or are you going by the “My Daily Goal” which factors in your daily exercise?

I agree, food out all the time is an awful idea and I plan to convert her to scheduled feedings.

Question for Team Cat..

Harry Potter books got me through surgery recovery last summer.

As far as home cooked meals go, yes, soup is easy. You can make it out of literally anything you have on hand and can require as little as a single pot.

Fresh soup is one of the easiest things to make ever and, often, can be frozen in individual portions for convenient meals later. You can also buy fresh prepared soups from local delis, restaurants, etc. I think the point is to cut out the sodium and preservatives typically found in a can of condensed soup.

More reasons to love Wegmans: They saw from my Shoppers Club Card that I bought a possibly infected container last week and called me to tell me! Thanks Wegmans!

Yes. I get cash from the drawer at the end of my shift for any credit card tips, however everyone of my credit card tips are reported on my W-2 and I have to pay taxes against each dollar. Cash tips are more "under the table" so to speak..

I just posted something similar above — but it's ok to tip all at once at the end and have the receptionist/cashier divvy out the tips to each of the technicians that serviced you. Figuring out what you'd like to tip ahead of time based on their pricing in a great idea. Just let the receptionist know how much you'd

I've been both receptionist and nail tech in salons and spas — it's completely acceptable to have the receptionist divvy up the tip for you. He/she can help you figure out what you paid for each service and therefor what you should tip individually and can make the appropriate change for each person. i.e. you can

As a nail tech, I have to say it really depends on the kid.
