Internalized misogyny. I did this too before I realized that I would also be treated like shit no matter how “different" I thought I was from other women. And that criticism of women is skewed.

The other woman in my D&D group and I started doing this because all the guys would insist we hadn’t said anything and that our characters had therefore died because OF COURSE only the men would think of having an arrow nocked when entering a cave or whatever. sure, buddy.

Perhaps you could try with your best buddies. Some guys are aware of sexism. You could ask for their help...better than nothing :P

Ya there is a minimum threshold of women required to use this technique. It won’t work if you’re the only one in the room.

This is a pretty cool thing. I wish that I worked with more women because this would not play out well in IRL. I work with mostly men, older men at that, and I have just resorted to ignoring what they say during meetings and then pardoning my memory loss by offering my own ideas. It works for me but obviously is not…
