As a marketing guy I have thought about this too. I thought it was odd when the Genesis came about as a Hyundai and not as a premium brand. It hasn't done much to elevate the status of Hyundai as I assumed they though, though it likely has negatively affected sales.

Just a comment regarding badge engineering. I've never heard it referred to in such a way as you have. Maybe I missed it in the article, but I thought this was a unique model/platform and not a rehash of an existing model, is this just an Equus? Generally badge engineering was the moniker attached to the practice of

Just in case you wonder why you don't hate the new design, it is because this design isn't really new. Kind of think of it like a DJ AM mash-up of different styles and design elements, that all happen to work together.

Chrome has its place, but it isn't universally applicable. Mercedes-Benz, to my knowledge hasn't sold a car with chrome wheels in my lifetime.

This is so awesome. There are no other words to describe how awesome this is.

This is a DJ AM mash-up.

Sorry, it suffers from the same bad looks as many homegrown creations and body mods done to other production cars. I look at this and think of it as a bad kit car. There really aren't any pleasing lines. there are elements that work on their own, but not as a collective.

"Bottom Line: All cars can have mechanical issues..." Couldn't have said it better myself. Feel free to turn down the snipe a tad.

Sorry, you missed the "credible" component of my request. That's okay. I see where you're going with this anyway.

Please post some credible information supporting Ridgeline Transmission trouble claim.

This is actually the perfect truck for a huge percentage of non-commercial pickup buyers. If you haven't driven a Ridgeline, do yourself a favor and do so. They aren't the prettiest trucks on the road but they are functional and rugged enough for light offroad duty and perfectly capable of tackling the day-to-day
