Please stop saying gas is cheap. Gas is not cheap, it has not been cheap since sub $1 territory. The cheapest here is about $2.20/gal.

The hatred is definitely not necessary. My wife and I may disagree on this, but I enjoy Guy and his personality. I do not see him as fake, I see him as real to himself. I would guess that these Flowmaster commercials confirm that he is who he is and has been that way before Food Network.

1st Gear: Why aren’t people buying cars at the same growth rate? Possible answers. Cars are less of an emotional purchase now, than they once were, save for market outliers such as Tesla. Cars last longer and changes in technology and efficiency do not outweigh the costs associated with an upgrade. Financial

Who/what looks like cars from the 1990s? Tesla?

The only issue with the larger greenhouse on the 3 and the X is that the AC system of the S hasn’t been known to be overly generous in the cooling department.

While I disagree. Tesla’s general design philosophy is clean and understated, while being modern and progressive. Their cars can blend into the landscape, but are distinctive enough to stand out. The more I see a Model S, the more I think they did nail balance in the design.

The Ridgeline is your answer. Not really small, but not unecessarily large.

No, I think people use illogical reasoning to justify their purchase, but I would guess that most new car buyers are aware that a new car purchase may not be the best investment. Keep in mind, cars are an emotional purchase. Logic takes a backseat to new car smell and the new car experience.

Odometer is always relevant.

How is this not common knowledge?

You’re part of the problem. :) You state that you want something more capable and bigger. The reality is, the Ridgeline is probably capable enough and big enough. What you sacrifice in those areas, you’ll get back in reliability and safety.

The Ridgeline is the answer to the question no one has been asking. It is the ideal solution for probably most light truck buyers who do not use their trucks for any commercial purpose. Glad the new Ridgeline addressed the fuel consumption issue. That’s the only drawback of the first gen Ridgelines.

I wonder what percentage of light truck buyers would be better suited owning a Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline does many trucky things very well.

I wouldn’t say that a Jeep pickup would compete with a RAM. The average contractor or landscaper is going to need more truck utility than this can offer.

The Wrangler is becoming our interpretation of the Land Rover Defender. Though the YJ is widely unloved, I think it represents the pinnacle of Jeep. The 4.0 was bulletproof. The design was uncomplicated. Engineering was basic. Mechanicals were simple and serviceable.

Bring back the SUTs!!!!!!!!

The anti-vaxxer movement is truly mind-boggling, but not a corolary to the Autopilot issue. Autopilot is not yet a fully-autonomous solution. Vaccines are a proven solution to preventing public health threats. What they do have in common is an irrational and uneducated response to proven facts.

Brands matter.

This will sell because many people buy because of brand. Some people believe that a car elevates their status and image. Though most will recognize this car as the cheapest BMW, it is still a BMW. That carries more weight than the performance image of the brand. How many people are buying 320i/328i sedans with

You’re implying that the auto industry misleads people about the real capability of 4-wheel drive? Perhaps people create and support their own interpretation of 4-wheel drive. 4-wheel drive more evenly distributes power to the ground, reducing the incidence of slippage on acceleration and offers the potential for
