I followed your link, which led me to Katie J. M. Baker’s great Buzzfeed article on sexual assault and sexual harassment in LA’s comedy scene. Found this little gem by a man accused of sexual harassment (my emphasis):

Hmmm...am I allowed to be conflicted about Schumer’s blocking of Twitter users asking her why she employs a guy whose remarks about rape she has already publicly and strongly condemned? Or is that feeling of conflict reserved for certain men actually accused of rape who are making Important Films or who are married to

People defend their friends for far longer than they should? I don’t know. He sounds all around heinously awful to me.

I think that the “men get raped” concept is useful. Not in a discussion like what Reductress is talking about, but because it broadens the conversation about rape in a valuable way. It has valence in terms of discussions about masculinity, and also empowers the male victims of assault (who are predominantly assaulted

It’s a lot worse than you could possibly imagine, and this was just the 2013 story. There was a whole new round in 2015.

I noticed this was happening but I didn't know why. I feel like that guy Metzger has come up for being a douche before?

Yeah there was a lot of dog whistling about her “mental problems” because she had blogged about having ptsd in the wake of their child’s severe medical problems. Somehow even her planning to leave him was brought in as evidence against her, that she was unstable. So yeah this is my complete lack of surprise that this

It’s a horrific shorthand, but it’s also usually true. Dead family? Husband/father did it. Dead kids only? The mom. Dead woman? Her partner.

Aren’t women least likely to kill their kids with a gun? They’ll poison, drown, or start a fire for a ‘peaceful’ or less messy death. If they shoot or stab, they’ll also trash the house to make it look like an intruder did it. I watch too much ID.

Yeah I have no idea what tht was about. To me it was so clearly him.

Isn’t this the shooting that so many Jezebel commenters were sure was done by the wife? Hm.

Your feelings in that situation are much more rational than hers though. It’s perfectly understandable for you to feel betrayed by people who were supposed to be your friends who overlooked your abuse. It’s a different story to feel betrayed by your attacker’s wife who likely had no idea what actually allegedly

The right to be believed doesn’t dictate personal behavior. It’s a standard for police investigation and public reporting - the idea that any alleged rape is likely true and should be investigated and the victim supported. It doesn’t mean that a woman must believe the word of a stranger over that of her husband and

It’s puzzling that so many people are angrier at Hillary than at the man actually accused of rape. And that includes the alleged victim.

It’s puzzling to me how many people are acting like this is new information. Or like Hilary Clinton is somehow more responsible for Bill Clinton’s behavior than Bill Clinton is.
