Yeah, but at what point does restricting the activities we allow people to do under the guise of saving the public money become too much? We could argue that motorcycling all together is too dangerous and outlaw it. I think you have to look at the actual costs before making this decision.

The argument is, that we allow people to choose to put themselves at risk, therefore drawing the line at helmets doesn’t make any more sense than anywhere else. We could outlaw motorcycling all together if we wanted to eliminate motorcycle deaths but we don’t. Not silly, just a different take.

My guess is....stubborn older folks? I definitely grew up during the era of buckle your seat-belt or else. But there are tons of people posting those “I GREW UP RIDING IN THE BACK OF A PICKUP TRUCK AND LIVED” memes on social media....so I am guessing it’s those people
