Frankly, a LSD, skids plates and a bit more ground clearance is all most people need to get a bit more outdoorsy. The target market for the “overlanding look” is people who want to drive on some dirt roads and camp off the grid...... No one buying a timberline is taking it to MOAB and running rock crawling trails.

The difference between 197 inches and 185 is huge. They aren’t roughly the same size - they are in different classes.

Printed fabrics could make for a fun option.

I bought a garbage VW GTI during coronavirus and its costing too much to maintain, but I love driving it! What do I replace it with?”

This is me. I own an M340i and an E30 and people think I’m crazy when I say how much more I enjoy driving my E30 over the M340i. Sure the E30 is slow as molasses compared to most every modern car, but you feel so much more connected to the car versus the extremely fast isolation chamber that the M340i is.

Its a shame that people who don’t like EVs can’t recognize the value of all that torque to help them move their goalposts all the time.

This EV won’t work for me because the commute to my job is 20 miles each way and once I get there they don’t give me enough money to buy this car.

I’ll be patiently waiting in the comments for someone to come say how this EV won’t work for them because their commute is 600 miles each way in the snow towing a 12,000lb trailer.

Is not a lot of gain but 9.2 inches is solid.

Here’s a fairly reserved, yet still fun idea:

You clearly don’t drive in the same areas I do. My wife had a Saturn SC2 (0-60 in 8.5) many years ago. There’s an entrance ramp near our house where we would regularly get run off the road because it couldn’t get up to speed flooring it all the way from the stop sign

Poly Bushings.

...bad company that is just in it for the money...

All of these are wrong. Wait for the GR 86.

They’re both Japanese sports coupes at a relatively affordable price-point that are fun to drive and lean heavily into the spirit of Gran Turismo, Wangan Midnight, and Initial D. I don’t see how they won’t be cross-shopped.

It might come as a shock to you, but there are plenty of people who don’t have $2500 bucks laying around for stuff like this.

I’m pretty sure Jason is either exaggerating or confused. Even if you spec out every single ridiculous option (tents, etc.) on the First Edition, you’ll be hard-pressed to hit $50K. This will reside somewhere in the $30-35K range for 95% of its buyers.

BRING BACK THE ELEMENT, HONDA! You’ll sell dozens of them and I will gladly buy 1. Maybe 2 if my significant other can be convinced. Hell make it electric while you’re at it. It already had a flat floor so running it on a skateboard chassis makes all the sense.

How will it compare with the Ford Maverick? Overall the Mav looks like it will a little cheaper, but those two are the ones I’ll be cross-shopping in 18-24 months.

It is not a Minivan. Think Transit connect.
