At this point, I see an electric car as commuter car for all the trips but long ones. So for 95% of my driving electric is amazing. For an annual long trip, I would have a gas car, though with careful planing I could pull off a trip in this too.

Where are you getting your information from. For Tesla batteries, it’s 13% reduction in most climates. Unless you are going to deep north, I don’t see why it’s a major problem.
