Being someone who maybe has experiences with how the Amazon system works to fulfill an order I want to point out that I’m pretty sure that there are a few factors that played into this shipment not making it to the destination when expected that have been excluded from the article.

They were a better car than you give them credit for being. The best? Hardly, but the worst? Far from it. They were a perfectly adequate vehicle for many, and that fact in and of itself makes them A-OK.

The 5speed is just fine in the 4Runner. It really is. It’s a great match to the 4.0.

Honestly, the 4.0 and 5 speed work well together, and are ridiculously robust. It matches well to the general 4Runner ethos.

I went 12' FJC TT to a 13' 4R Limited. Honestly, I really liked the FJ just as much as the 4R, maybe even just a bit more... but everyone (especially the dog) that regularly gets subjected to passenger duty is very firmly in the pro 4R camp. Funny how that works out.
