Late reply but it’s unlikely his insurance would pay out due to what he was doing. As for any car that he hit, they’d probably end up payed back from their uninsured motorist coverage, but their insurance company would sue the guy to get all their money back + lawyer and court fees + interest.

I think decgeek was wondering if Walker, the asshole former boss, asked his lawyers if he could pay this new ~$40,000 bill in pennies as well.

He likes New Zealand and submarines? He might be building his own version of Rapture in the ocean near NZ.

Hopefully the costs for that get billed to OceanGate and the family of the CEO.  He was the one so disdainful of safety and was rich, so it’s only fair his estate pay for the search caused by his fuck up.

Bad taste jokes after tragedies are many people’s way of coping with it.  People told jokes about the Challenger disaster as well, where the Space Shuttle blew up shortly after launch.  There’s nothing new or wrong about it and this is a creative way to memorialize the event.

Torrenting never went away, but it did decrease over the years. Spotify caused a significant drop in torrenting of music especially, and when there was only Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime, video torrenting dropped as well. Now it’s going to go back up to pre-streaming levels and beyond.

At least until all the DVD & Bluray players stop working from age and no new ones are being built.  Which is a possibility, sadly.

Apparently they used earlier versions of the LLM models for it, which explains a lot of how shitty it looks.  They were trying to get it to do something it wasn’t ready to do.

Depends on the show and circumstances. Some shows I really like the opening, so I’ll watch it every ep., others I don’t.  If I’m watching videos on my tablet with MX Player, it’s easier to let it play than to try to skip ahead manually.

They didn’t have much of a choice, as Reddit threatened to remove all the mods and reopen the subreddit anyway. This will hurt Reddit in small ways, for example advertisers who paid the higher rate to advertise on video gaming subreddits are going to be pissed. It also decreases the potential ad impressions for video

For all practical purposes I really am allergic to it thanks to IBS. I found this out when I had a nice milkshake one day, then vomited it up half an hour later. It’s amazing how quickly you stop craving things when they make you sick.

Some of them are okay. My dad has car insurance from The Hartford, a AARP perk. Several years back some uninsured idiot ran a stop sign and T-boned dad’s pickup truck. The Hartford paid to have it repaired without complaints, and then paid for a replacement windshield separately when that got missed by the repair

I’m sure he’ll be laughing every time he doesn’t get a job because of that criminal record. Even a lot of fast food places won’t hire someone with that kind of record.  He’s fucked over his whole life, and I have no sympathy for him.

Universities only have to report crime that occurs on their campus. Serial killers running amok in the city, as long as they don’t kill students on the campus, don’t count. All universities do this, Penn State isn’t unique. By your own account life was safe on Penn State’s campus, so their crime reports weren’t a lie.

It’s different from a killer cop, because this is how universities prepare to fire tenured professors. Due to tenure, they can’t just fire him immediately, they have to go through a process. But they can put them on leave and forbid them from coming to campus, with exceptions for hearings related to their stripped of

This is why online games really should include an option for player run servers from the start. That way the game can still be played decades from now, long after the official servers are taken down.

My read on it was she’s apologizing for calling them out and humiliating them, not for the ejection itself. She thinks she could have handled it better, and that probably is overthinking it, but I can see how she’s come to that conclusion.

Oh she will. No Democrats will vote for her, not that there’s many cross-over voters any more, but very few Republicans will vote for her either. They won’t trust her, because she’s only recently became a Republican. Instead they’ll vote for a “true” Republican in the primary. Basically they’ll use her to get the

You really need to stop talking out your ass, because you’re dead wrong. But don’t take my word for it, take the United States Postal Service’s: https://about.usps.com/publications/pub300a/pub300a_v04_revision_072019_tech_021.htm

Having stolen property does not mean you personally stole it. You could have bought it fully believing it was legally obtained by the seller, and you haven’t committed a crime by doing so. If you refuse to return it, then you’ve committed a crime. This guy didn’t refuse to return it.
