Check the Steam reviews. Once the Wastelanders update dropped and the version released back in April, it received generally positive reviews. It’s not a perfect (or even great) game by any stretch, but it’s absolutely worth checking out if the price is right.

Fine, so this proves they released it too early. They don’t get let off for releasing a minimal barely-viable product in order to have money coming in while they develop it.

They gave it an offline mode?  They got rid of the stupid MTX?  No?  Then its just as bad as it ever was.

No Man’s Sky is the only game that I’ll let stay in the ‘pretty good, now’ category.

Yeahh.. except that the most recent update basically broke the entire game unless you use a very narrow perk build.

Awww defend harder. No I am actually speaking of the gold bars and scrips and reputation faction grind that is capped daily but requires you to do it every day for months to get any good armor (if you didn’t exploit it when it was first released) and good rewards which is all designed to keep you logging in every day t…

I have a hard time wanting to give Bethesda any money despite any improvements. I’m on PC, so $35-40 bucks for “It WAS a shitty, buggy cash-grab with blatantly predatory real money transaction mechanics, but it’s better now, really!” is... not terribly enticing.

When the core gameplay mechanics are the problem—if I wanted an online experience, Fallout 76 doesn’t offer a compelling one for the price, and if I want an offline/solo experience, I’ll play Fallout 4—then they can dress it up however they like, it’s not going to be something I have any interest in playing.

So after almost two years after release the Fallout game is now an actual Fallout game lol. I’ll keep playing Outer Worlds instead as even the “good” Fallout game this gen was just average to me 

Fallout 76 isn’t a bad game at this point. That it took as long as it did to get to this point and after a lot of the things Pete and Todd trumpeted ended up being BS (private servers, atom store would only be cosmetic, etc) weighed heavily on the initial (and largely still) on the overall perception of this game.

*I will agree the game is pretty ok now. Especially if you role play.* you have to do Larping to make it ok ? it doesnt help the game at all.

I am tired of the “game eventually gets good” approach. I’m not buying a shitty game with hope that after a year or two they’ll fix it. No sir.

Gave it a shot on Game Pass, had to wait a while for it to download because the file size is enormous. Turned out I ended up playing it less time than waiting for that download. As a single player experience it’s still not even at the level of Fallout 4 yet, even with their poor effort of jamming human NPCs in.

So it finally hit Beta? 

The One Wasteland rebalance is great for low-level players and doesn’t really change things for high-level players, but it kind of sucks for mid-level players.
