I think part of the uproar has been the idea that you can’t love Star Wars if you don’t take the original trilogy or prequel trilogy as gospel. I’ve watched all of the movies several times (dozens or hundreds in the case of the OT) and I read a shit-ton of EU books and comics, beyond what any person should subject

No one fucking cares.

That’s a good list and that list maker (along with the movie’s director) should feel good about it.

And he totally did! I loved every little dig at the old movies, and this is coming from someone who has personally been watching since 1977.

There is a real problem within many fandoms with ‘gatekeeping’.

Well, he absolutely succeeded. I’m not so precious about my fandom to think that every Star Wars movie is either “OMG THE BEST EVER” or “OMG THE WORST EVER.” By revisiting and reinterpreting the series’ influences and blending it with his own vision to create something new while commenting on how legends are made,

I loved it, but I get a lot of the negative reactions to the Last Jedi had to do with regular plotting and character choices, but it sure seems a lot of it also has to do with that last sentiment: making Star Wars a more inclusive universe. Like, I have my gripes with the Canto Bight mission, but so much of the online

Glad to see that Disney is so much more flexible than the people who oversee Marvel. I hope that whomever has ultimate authority over Marvel considers that they should be more like Disney.

They could introduce a new Marvel sub-brand, maybe something with a blue logo instead of red. (Get it? ... blue! ... like swearing!)

I keep in mind the status of the Marvel Netflix shows and realize that Disney is not opposed to Rated R.

Exactly this. If the director didn’t know, thats really not great. But there would have been, with certainty, multiple people somewhere in the production of this film or read more than the first book within the development.

I think just enough humor could be derived from him being bleeped, or otherwise censored, while serving an ancillary role in a PG-13 MCU film. Then do an uncensored release where it turns out he wasn’t even cursing.

I agree, but sometimes you gotta reassure people, “no, the corporate giant ISN’T going to kill the golden goose... without cause.”

They’re also not interested in controversies. Here I’m more worried about X-23's future (I really want a movie with the same character and actress) than Deadpool’s which I’m fairly certain is fine in the near future.

Emma Stone has no emotional context to play a character that

I’m sure that someone on the production read all three books, more than likely multiple people. How many producers, assistant producers, etc., are there on a movie like this? Maybe Garland truly was unaware, but someone knew.

I really love this movie...in my head. I have not watched it in decades and I have a hunch it’s not going to hold up well, so I think maybe I’ll just leave it at that.

I want to see a remake directed by David Lynch. Now that would be nightmare inducing.

Written and Directed by Victor Salva. Soundtrack by Gary Glitter and Michael Jackson.

I just hope they go the usual reboot route and make it dark and gritty.
