It’s option B. And resulted in Nolan walking away and washing his hands of the whole thing. In particular, Nolan didn’t want Superman to kill Zod in MoS. Called it out as stupid. WB backed Snyder. The movie came out and Nolan just accepted that his opinion wasn’t wanted and moved on.

oh wow, didn’t notice that at first!

“I wonder how that worked.”

James Baldwin was just insanely talented. He had such a haunting, poetic way with words, and his work is not taught near half as much as it should be.

Only James Baldwin could turn what should have been a dinky promotional essay in what was essentially a throw away magazine, into absolute poetry. I am also guilty of reading the TV Guide articles religiously when I was a kid, and desperately reading anything I could get my hands on.

“Hatred is sentimentality raised to its highest, most suicidal pressure. Whatever else hatred may or may not reach or destroy, it most certainly destroys the self”

In that case, how did they manage to get a PG-13 rating with all the sex workers?

That’s the ghost of happiness past.

Well, remember Snyder also had Frank Miller whispering in his other ear while making BvS.

But let’s not kids ourselves: it’s going to make an assload of money.

They literally already did this once. Christopher Nolan.

I don’t know, the reviews I read either said he wasn’t given much to work with resulting in a bland performance, or he was the only good thing in an otherwise bad movie. I didn’t really see anybody specifically blaming him.

I’m way less worried about his acting (haven’t most of even the negative reviews said he was good?) than I am by the fact that he helped rewrite the thing, when the storytelling seems to be the biggest problem.

But I also think that WB hires someone to babysit Zack Snyder, or at least takes away some creative control. They’ll let him stay, partially because of BvS’s financial success, and partially because it’s such short notice. But someone will be given a dump truck of money to try to stop Snyder from making the same

It seems like a really good reason to go with a different location for subsequent events, not just as a financial protest, but also for the sake of attendees who may not be legally documented as their actual gender.

Shut down all of the military bases in NC and let them get by without all of the money they bring to the state.

So while this is hateful bullshit of the highest order in any case, this is also somewhat personal because my partner, a trans woman, has organized a major conference in her field in NC later this year (the city in question lobbied hard for this event). She’s obviously very upset about this, but I’m wondering if she

I know introducing things with little time to understand what is being voted on is some cute technique, but there’s actual real people on the other end of these flippant decisions. There’s time when I feel like politicians see their job as a joke of sorts and forget who and why they have their job. Some quick decision

I think Romer v. Evans, which held that a state constitutional amendment banning local and state anti-discrimination laws protecting homosexuals lacked a rational basis and was rooted in impermissible animus, makes this law very questionable, constitutionally speaking. I also wonder how it will interact with Title IX
