I’d 100% own one if I was in the business of delivering baguettes, flowers, *and* marijuana.

The names are all over the place. BMW owns some (like Riley, their former chairman really wanted to revive that), SAIC has a few, Tata has a couple, I think Ford still owns some, just a mess.

That is a great looking van. I’d 100% own one if I was in the business of delivering baguettes, flowers, or marijuana. The van just says “happiness” on the oustide.

I had to look at that top pic a good while before I realised it was a brand new van and not some kind of restomod.  That’s how you do retro.

That thing is beautiful. I think a Morris Minor Countryman with the powertrain from a Leaf or a Fiat 500e would be an awesome little urban delivery vehicle and could be built for something much closer to $10k.

Interestingly, Toyota says these sedans were an all-American effort led by an engineering team at Toyota Motor North America Research and Development in Saline, Michigan.

That isn’t a crack, the structure has already failed in that photo.

Cracks never get smaller and never go away.  You can hide them or ignore them but they will always get bigger given time or stress of some type.  Living in an area where we get freeze/thaw cycles I cannot fathom how anyone with an iota of common sense would ignore these.

also an electrician, i’ve requested that building maintenance keep the cores for any holes they drill for at least a year. because a few buildings they core through a pipe powering something important but seasonal, hide the core, and then play dumb when there’s a problem powering up that equipment in the right

The fact that the design was flawed suggests that the engineers in this case were not so good at crunching the numbers.

One of the worse things I see in this report is the ignoring of the construction workers. I’m a good enough engineer to know I don’t know everything. A guy with a high school education that has actually done stuff with his hands and not just on a computer knows a lot more about how things actually work than I do. Some

For the design and review oversights...every licensed PE involved in this project should lose their license permanently, at a minimum. Jail time should be on the table for the bean-counters at the contractor and the independent reviewer.

he indicated that there was not enough budget or time to evaluate those factors

I traded my 2013 Optima for my Stinger (GT1 AWD) partly because it’s a liftback. If I waited until now instead, I would likely still get the Stinger because of the liftback. I use it far more (and has hauled ALOT) than I ever did with the Optima.

Liftbacks are easier to load, keep you dry in the rain, and just plain look better. They are superior to sedans in every way. While the spread of fastback styling is closing the gap, liftbacks generally have more trunk space too because they don’t have that notch to visually separate the cabin and trunk. Plus the area

Most liftbacks still have trunk partitions. It’s all the benefits of a sedan, with additional opening space when you need it.

I love my wifes MKZ. It is such a underrated car.

MKZ is the same way. The front part of the trunk lid is piano black plastic.

And since 99% of my cargo is soccer gear and Kung Pao chicken, there are times I wish I did have a separate trunk, instead of the #HatchbackLife. Sometimes...

I was thinking the same thing.....the liftback likely causes a money vs crash-test rating issue.
