As others have pointed out, CarPlay in its current existence doesn’t replace the existing vehicle’s infotainment system. It simply exists as a secondary option, just like Android Auto. In my vehicle, there’s a icon in CP that immediately takes me back and into the OEM system.

Definitely agree with illegality for on-street usage. I could see this being attractive to certain personality types for wedding party transportation, and that then makes me think of the terrible wedding limo and golf car accident fatalities in the last decade.  This has barely any safety features.
