Also, anyone who is concerned about the labor and pay practices of Uber should read this article about the taxi industry. The article is specific to Boston, but I highly doubt the practices are. It is very grim. At least there’s a solid paper trail and consistency with Uber.

I left about a year ago and pretty recently before I left I still had taxi drivers arguing with me to not pay with my credit card and give them cash instead (or claim the machine is broken), even though they were legally required to take my card. I just want to go home, not have an argument, you know?

What an amazing image. To me, it looks like someone was smashing Cosby’s face, like you might do to a photo of someone who wronged you.

I agree—I think this is a fabulous cover.

It may be a minor point, but I’m glad that the “shatter” obliterates Cosby’s image and leaves the others relatively intact. It would seem unfair if the rest of the cast was defaced or vandalized.

Oh, hey there, I know this first city you are talking about. I live here now, and yeah, the taxis suck. I have seen some improvement recently, like when it comes to accepting credit cards, but that is clearly a direct response to uber.

OLD YELLER IS NOT LIKE THIS WOMAN! YOU TAKE THAT BACK!

Definitely we’re better at catching Munchausen’s, along with a lot of other stuff. I still can’t help but think, though, that the existence of the Internet doesn’t, well, encourage certain things-hasn’t there been a lot of uproar over “thinspiration” and “pro-ana” sites?

I’ve always been suspicious of mommy bloggers. Probably extreme on my part, but it is probably based on the Christmas family letters that became a thing when I was a kid, you know, those long ass letters sent at Christmas bragging about all the things their families had done and obtained and seen that past year. They

Not only do you get the ride summary, but if you’re watching your phone, you can see the moment they turn off of the suggested/anticipated route.

When I first started using it, I was living in a city where the cab drivers were generally terrible. They didn’t know their way around at all and rarely had gps so you’d have to give them turn by turn directions, (problematic if you were intoxicated or in an unfamiliar part of the city). I felt unsafe with the driving

For some reason, police often fail to recognize both the relevance and the authority of REO Speedwagon.

I missed that she was sentenced already. Which is extra weird, because I don’t like all that far away from where she is.

Aren’t all mommy blogs a form of Munchausen’s?

I personally knew someone who did this to her child. But it was fecal matter. Apparently, one of her kids was actually born sick, and she liked the attention so much she started poisoning the others. (Incidentally, she was also a mommy blogger.)

Christ.

“...putting her daughter’s health in danger by injecting her with urine.”

I have three friends who have been assaulted by taxi drivers, one raped. Regulation didn’t help them, when cab companies start doing psychological evaluations as part of their recruitment process, you might have a point. At least Uber tracks your journey and gives you phone contact with the driver. This story is

Because a lot of cabs aren’t willing to drive you home when you live in the middle of no where. It’s also more convenient if you live in a country where you’re not fluent in the language.

Marketing. They were incredibly successful in tapping the “stick it to the man, share-economy” market. Who needs regulation and licensing? C’mon kids, let’s put on a show in the old barn! That’s filled with rapists!
