I’ve noticed that some MCU movies don’t resonate with me and get worse on subsequent viewings. Others, like Infinity War got better.  Ultimately there needs to be a reason for the film to exist other than action sequences and ridiculous plot lines.

True, small changes are easier to get people on board with. For instance, Obamacare enabled lots of formerly uninsurable folks to get coverage but if it had tried to nationalize healthcare and get rid of health insurance completely, it would have failed miserably. Medicare for all is probably a good place to start

The airlines (and their lawyers) have figured out its better to inconvenience one person (plus a baby) than risk a major problem. If the condition had been contagious and someone else got infected then AA would have been fucked. It sucks for the woman but I can see how this shitty customer service is calculated.

Or they could build in a place with even better tax breaks and a friendly local government.  That’s would I would do if I were Bezos.

Don’t get upset. The only thing you can do is pay the bill, stiff the tip, put a negative yelp review and tell your friends to avoid the place.  If that’s their attitude I can’t imagine the shit that probably goes on in the kitchen.

What about “the customer is always right”? I think most smart businesses will take the hit (at least once) just to not fuck up their good will. One lost customer can mean another 5 never customers.

A lot of places require a pilot from the destination country to be ferried out and then they steer the ship into port.

Man, they sure make a beautiful car!

They certainly didn’t invent it but they revolutionized it. I’ve happily bought more shit on Amazon than anywhere else. I wonder how many of the critics have Amazon packages being delivered today...

Yes, health insurance is a misnomer. Insurance is something you buy “just in case” but we’ve been conditioned to think health insurance = healthcare. Having health insurance for catastrophic problems but single payer healthcare for everyone for the routine/preventative things might be a place to start.

What Amazon has done, that no one seems to want to talk about, is improve the convenience and reduce the cost of goods for everyone. Before Amazon, you had to drive to a store, hope they had something you wanted in a far more limited selection and then drive home. Compare that to shopping on Amazon now. We’re not

If this is true, and I do think that automation is coming whether we like it or not, why are employment numbers up, unemployment claims down, job openings up and the unemployment rate has been dropping for the past six years?

As Socrates once said, “Know thyself”.  Also, “An unexamined life is not worth living”.  I’ve found this a very useful mantra.

The lottery should be abolished. All it does is target low income people with the dream of riches.

That’s because every other corporation is looking at this and thinking they want no part of it. It’s far easier to open shop in a depressed, business friendly part of the world. Businesses by nature are opportunists. Like it or not, those who run multi-billion dollar enterprisesdon’t want to deal with these

Actually, NASA came out recently saying that our sun’s energy output will be dropping in the coming decades. We should experience a global cooling through 2050 although the local effects may be different. The real issue is climate change. The US can only do so much. Well they did know him quite well.

OMG, please read the books!  The movie wasn’t very good in comparison.

This is a symptom of our congressional system. 100 senators with different constituents and differing opinions. Trying to get agreement on a sweeping proposal like the GND is tough even without considering the political ramifications. Perhaps they should do one agenda item at a time.
