Yeah okay, maybe

For a car that is so light, it’s quite a bit of HP actually. Reaching 60 mph in 5.3 seconds is faster than the 320 HP Honda Type R, for example. Quarter mile time on one video was 13.8 sec, which is in line with the Type R. As a comparison, the Camry takes about 14.3. So not too too bad for such a small car.

For something that weighs 2800 lbs it sure as hell is. It also has 272lb/ft of torque, which is more than the Camry. It does 0-60 in 5.3, on any surface imaginable.

You think that a 4500lb Camry with 30 more horsepower will be faster than a 2800lb YarisGR?

I remember when Jalopnik used to enjoy and encourage car culture

Straight to hell where they belong!

I love being able to rev the car out, but I think that bump in torque and the earlier onset will make a big difference for perceived quickness (and potentially for actual 0-60 time). I’m interested to see how big of a difference it makes and excited to see they kept the weight down at the same time.

Crucially, the 184 ft-lbs comes on at 3,700 rpm (where the torque dip was), vs the 156 ft-lbs of before coming on at 6,400 rpm.

And here’s the money answer right here. True statement, and thats what pisses me off about the car. Same with Porsche and the Cayman. I think they need to think less about competing product lines, and think more about the next car up the ladder that this thing could take on.

What people forget about videos like this is that there are a lot of older Teslas out there with older versions of Autopilot. What you are seeing in this video could be a ~2016 Model X Hardware 2 autopilot which has no automatic lane change capabilities, etc. The base autopilot package even on newer teslas also is

Exactly. Not on autopilot (for nearly a minute before the crash) and the driver’s foot was on the throttle. This is a bad driver story, not a Tesla story. The only reason we’re talking about it is because Teslas have cameras built in and they capture bad driver behavior and go viral.

Or as I saw some people comment on Instagram, it’s all just part of his contract game. This is the same guy who said “my tires are dead” and then 2 laps later started bombing out fastest lap after fastest lap for the next 10 laps.

I know this is a moto site, and I’m prepared to get slammed for going pedal-power, but this is exactly what you do on a bicycle when road riding and approaching an intersection.

I’ve honestly considered stepping up to a Grom for the days where the weather is not horrible, but I’m running a little late to bicycle

Dammit, you made me go look. That new 5-speed transmission would go nicely with a big-bore kit, but I just learned that folks are doing CBR 250/300 engine swaps now.

When slowing down on a bike, you should get used to sequential rev-match downshifting as you slow down. Little blip of the throttle - downshift, release clutch. Rinse. Repeat. That way you are always in a gear to have power and move out of the way if necessary. If you get lost, it takes half a second to stomp down

Or electric with hot-swappable batteries.

I want bikes this size with 250s!

I like the new look, and the new dash looks good as well. The 5 speed is a welcome change, as long as it doesn’t come with reduced durability from packing more gears into the same space.

Although, I gotta say, I don’t understand your fascination with the need for a gear indicator. I’ve been riding bikes for almost 15

Anyone who’s ever raced or seriously tracked  motorbikes knows that this is mayor click bait (the video to be more precise).

First off, I was racing myself when the K5 came out and holy shit was that/is that a fantastic bike.
