Platinum almost shuttered in 2017. Kamiya freely admits that the studio would be done if it wasn’t for Automata doing good money and opening opportunities for them. Like people are ragging on Babylon’s Fall, but if it lets them keep the lights on and work at their own pace it’s a good thing.

I still just can’t wrap my mind around the unlimited possibilities of fantasy game character design, the settled on ‘three guys who are totally not allowed back at the Outback Steakhouse’.

One theory I saw noted somewhere is that this might literally be “Final Fantasy 1... the Isekai” and these characters might be *literal* mundane earth characters.... dumped into the world of Final Fantasy 1.

Yeah, was disappointed to see the all male cast. I guess you have the girl in the background talking about Garland, but hardly the same. Really not much reason not to. I have very little interest in just playing macho “KILL CHAOS” boy group.

The main guy just looks so ... bland. It’s not helped by the “AH, I’M SO MACHO” voice direction either. The other two seem okay (at least the redhead seems to have some personality; same VA as the guy who did Yuri in FE3H?).
