My mom made sure to tell me to shave before I went on a school trip to Florida so that I wouldn't get made fun of as a teenager. I hated my mom pointing out the hair and telling me to shave it but getting made fun of would have been worse I guess.

That is absolutely horrifying and is really a testament to how resilient human beings can be.

I have a question for you if you're willing to answer it. I have this friend who vomits when she's on her period. What could be a possible cause for that? Her doctor recommended birth control pills to treat it but her parents didn't allow that (because taking birth control for any reason means you're a slut, obviousy).

But it seems like it would be good to get into the habit of being aware of my body because some of my relatives have had issues with their reproductive organs. Like tumors and cysts and stuff. I will definitely schedule my appointment through my university's health clinic…

So I just read that women 21-65 should get pap smears once every three years. I'm thinking of scheduling my first one ever now but I'm really hoping the doctor won't treat me like I'm stupid for wanting one when I'm not having any problems. :P

There are so many opportunities to volunteer outside of Greek life! I volunteered at a hospital for a year and there are all kinds of organizations on campus to volunteer in other ways.

My mom was the same. She always says to never rely on a man for financial stability.
