I think Gettysburg does a particularly good job at also pointing out that, like it or not, the Confederate soldiers were... also American. Wrong. But American.

This this this exactly this. I cannot tell you how many times I have had to explain to someone yesterday and today that no, pulling down a statue is not “just as bad” as LITERAL HATE GROUPS descending on a town and one of the goobers FUCKING KILLING SOMEONE AND INJURING 19 OTHERS. It is not even in the same goddamned…
I’d come back for the Monument 10K in an instant if this happened (although...it wouldn’t be hard to convince me to come back for it anyway, I love Richmond).
Stassa, thank you for this - I’ve bookmarked a ton of these sources (and this article) for the next time someone makes the “removing history” argument and “history for whom?” is not enough to beat them back.
Do you train on hills? I do not - my first was nowhere near SF-level hilly but it was in Pittsburgh with some brutal hills. Just give yourself permission to walk if you need to - that in and of itself alleviated a lot of my hill-related stress.
You should chill. Maybe a good long run would help you out.
I’ve done Hal’s plans for three halves and one marathon to date - I’m trying a different plan for my second but only because it’s my second this year. They really are great.
Sun protection, I think. I work short sleeves instead of a tank for that reason at least.
Halo Top is not for “cheat days!” It’s for regular “I want some damned ice cream but I’m not ruining my macros for it” or “it’s fucking Tuesday” days!
94 C = 201 F. 80 C = 176 F.
YES.
Moving Comfort bras are my jam. I adore the Rebound Racer and the Uplift Crossback. When I was bigger, the Juno was my bestie. It’s getting to the point where I check every clearance rack at every sporting goods store to see if I can find them for $30 or less in my size. The clearance section at Dick’s Sporting Goods,…
No, I meant 15. What temperature are you “roasting” at? I swear -my fiance left them in at 425 for 20 minutes and complained for days about the little char nuggets he was left with.
Whaaaaaaaat? Anything over 15 minutes at 425 (much roasting is 400 degrees+) results in little char nuggets. Don’t roast delicate veggies for 2 hours at a time unless you’re baking them at something closer to “not the surface of the sun.” That said, 15 minutes at 425 makes for the most delightful little chips out of…
!!!! Happy to see you back at Jez, Jane!!!!
But they *can* discriminate against a white supremacist as long as it’s not because of their membership in a protected class. You can say “I only serve pretty people” and that would be perfectly legal, and discrimination. You can say “no fatties allowed” and it’s perfectly legal, douchy, and discrimination. It’s when…
This exactly. It only “modernized” itself in a superficial way. This is why Golden Girls holds up despite its 80s-riffic decor and wardrobe.
While true, this is not the reason why it doesn’t age well, seeing as we haven’t yet eradicated self-absorbed assholes from the planet and in fact elected one President.
I’m not sure if you’re being intentionally obtuse but the same thing as people who claim employment discrimination or housing discrimination when that’s not the reason their application was denied. Meaning: an investigation or hearing wherein the claim is either proven or disproven.
This isn’t actually true - “white supremacists” is not a protected class. You can certainly refuse service on the basis of political beliefs, or if the person is just in general a jerk.
