Yeah, it gave me a hard time the first few tries. Those off-beat ones are the worst! It's reminds me of Lockstep from the DS Rhythm Heaven, if you played it; it's one of those things that, while difficult at first, once you "get it" you can practically do it with your eyes closed. Really? There's no way that game was intended to be serious XD. That's like saying Schindler's List was a romantic comedy. The main character's dialogue is far too campy for anyone to take it seriously.

I had trouble updating my 3DS as well, but eventually got it working after several attempts. My 360 works fine once I'm actually signed in to XBL, which again takes several attempts.

They used Paper Mario as an example of the combat (turn-based with timed button presses), and that's an amazing series right there. They tried taking the turn-based combat out of the game with the Wii iteration and it sucked by comparison.
