I’ll add one related to “Don’t go in to oncoming traffic”:
Yeah, it’s what, 2 (3?) years old. It’s not even due for a mid-cycle refresh for another 3 or 4 years.
Stop doing this “Company loses $X on every unit it sells” nonsense. It’s misleading and sensationalized. Ford, and most companies (Even Nissan, allegedly!) spend money developing new products. They spend that money in anticipation of future sales. Dividing total development cost (already paid up front) by the first…
I bought mine as a former fleet vehicle, and the charger had never been removed from the factory plastic wrap. Crazy.
Good info on the patents...I was meaning to look that up. I know they traded patents (or something like that) with Ford awhile back and that is why Ford was able to use the same scheme. I was wondering if they had released them, because Hyundai uses the same type of hybrid-drive and I can’t imagine them doing Hyundai…
But why wouldn’t they, there is ZERO reason not to plug in, even if all you have is 110v you can still get a meaningful charge, and as far as I am aware these vehicles can’t use the motor as a generator, like while idling which they 100% should be able to. I mean I think the SF90 can use the motor to recharge its…
This is the small but significant benefit of PHEVs and EVs that people often forget. Never having to go to a gas station again is fantastic.
“...So you’re literally wasting money on a less fuel-efficient car”
Lifestyle change? A plugin hybrid only requires you plug in the car when you get home. There is no lifestyle change involved. Since the car has a gas engine, traveling distances does not require they stop to charge up, just the gas station.
I plug my Outlander PHEV in just about daily, and for most of my driving during the week, the 22 miles of EV is enough. It’s not very efficient for freeway driving. I’d be stoked to get 38MPGs highway as the RAV4 Prime allegedly does. Anyway, I can’t imagine why anybody would pay the premium on a PHEV and not use its…
I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t just charge their PHEV all the time. I keep mine topped off whenever possible, as my MPG is so, so much better that way.
I have a Plugin Pacifica, but live in California. 30-32 miles on electricity only. The cost for changing at home is almost a wash and I’m saving perhaps $1 in energy cost vs the equivalent gallon of gas.
However, the MAJOR benefit is that we only fill up once a month or less. The time convenience is HUGE to not have to…
Yeah at 35k for a Lyric I think I’d be in. All the way.
You are saying, in other words, that Democrats know how government works, and know how to get legislation through the wickets. Meanwhile, Republicans have lost this ability and have only ideas, but no ability to get them to the chamber floor. To this, I say you are absolutely correct.
Yep. The Republican Party has the mentality of losers.
As I’ve said a million times, if Convicted Felon regains the office, what happens to the EV industry will be #148 on the OMG list of things he’ll do. Hard to charge your car amidst radioactive fallout.
Trump has not explained the plan in detail.
can we please stop saying “stranded” they aren’t stranded at all, they could return anytime, they are simply studying why the thrusters in the service module (that get’s discarded), they could leave at any time.
