I have the best evidence there is of a shortage of eggs; prices. Prices went up; that’s because there’s a shortage. Because there was a shortage, people wanted to get their hands on as many eggs as they could before the price went up even more . . . causing the price to go up even more.

(1) Some producers have no eggs

That’s literally just living in a society of scarcity. Poverty has no cause; it is the natural condition of all living things.

A bunch of other egg producers had to cull their hens because of disease, meaning there was a huge decrease in the global supply of eggs. That caused prices to go up.

This but unironically. They efficiently allocate scarce resources to those people who value them most. And the high-prices paid by those willing buyers incentivizes the manufacturer to increase production, meeting that demand.
