A lot of people don’t have insurance, and even for those that do, this stuff is typically regarded as “cosmetic” or “not medically necessary”, and thus not covered, and exorbitantly expensive. Even just getting a doctor to look at it and get a diagnosis is expensive enough to be out of reach for a lot of people.
