I am so torn! Until this morning I was hardcore ride-or-die stanning for Olivia Colman. Still am, but I’d also be quite happy with Glenn Close or even Yalitza Aparicio.

More motivation to vote my hiney off in 2020.
Me too! Even worse: I said something about “so much hate” to my middle school students a few years ago, and that earned me a classroom full of SMH in real-life.
Oh, goody. I’m a public school teacher in Atlanta, and I sure as hell don’t want this guy in charge of anything, much less my retirement accounts. Guess I’ll be spending the weekend making calls and sending emails.
IOKIYAR.
As a old Gen X’er, I just find the idea of SponCon wildly amusing. Back in the early ‘90s, the idea of “selling out” was horrifying. Now, people would probably let their pap smears be ‘Grammed for some of that sweet sponcon cash. (And hey, more power to them! “Moral purity” don’t pay the bills.)
Someone elsewhere mentioned that since both of her parents are gone, she will likely be eligible for medicaid and other government benefits. Thank goodness, since she will need SO much for the rest of her life.
Thanks for all your work. I’ve been following this case for a while, and the local coverage I’ve read has always been respectful and professional. Do you know if her aunts plan to stay in the area? I can see both sides of that coin.
One thing that drove me crazy about the press conference immediately after her recovery was that the Barron Sheriff kept claiming direct or indirect credit for her “recovery”. THAT GIRL RESCUED HERSELF. I’ve been following this case since the beginning (because I’m way too into true crime, not because I’m…
I’m conflicted about that. I do feel some sympathy for Patterson’s father (unless we learn later that he was intentionally or unintentionally complicit), but all his attempts to reach out to Jayme’s family seem way too soon and more about his guilt than Jayme’s healing. Give them some time to process and settle into…
I used to wear glasses, and contact lenses were SO much cheaper at Costco. Otherwise, nah. I’m a single woman in an apartment. Not really a good deal for many reasons.
Marti Noxon
In clothing and hair style, she looks astonishingly like the modest models in contemporary ads for office wear, and even more astonishingly like a childhood teacher of mine in Houston. (Respect, Mrs. W., it was a good look.)
I’m a Publix devotee. I looked at the survey PDF, though, and Publix wasn’t even among the top 13 “favorites”. Very, very odd.
Dear god. That’s totally going to happen, isn’t it? As an Atlantan, I thought the worst would be Patriots vs. Saints, but a Kardashian proposal? Yikes.
RFPs will only be accepted with an ironclad prenup.
Anyone else here who grew up in Dallas and kept looking at those call letters with confusion? “KRLD KRNB? That’s quite a format change from news/talk radio!”
I have students named Jaycyn and Jaydyn. Completely unrelated to each other, despite having the same last name.
That movie had me at the school drop-off.
I’m fine with women in power, just not this one specific woman currently in power. (Alexandra Petri is a goddamned treasure.)
