Yeah, for all they go on and on about socialized health systems being hated, I can’t think of a country that’s gotten rid of theirs to go back to a system like the US has.

I can remember reading years ago that he was the longest surviving ALS case in the UK, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the longest lived in the world.

Yeah, I’m Canadian and it makes me really mad when I hear American conservatives claim that everyone here hates our socialized health care system(s) and it doesn’t work. Bull-fucking-shit, there’s a reason we still have socialized medicine despite a lot of lobbying from private insurance companies: many people rely on

A quick google suggests he is one of the longest, if not the longest, survivors of ALS. I’d be surprised if he hadn’t been studied for that.

I wonder that too. I also wonder whether doctors have studied him (or other people like him, if they’re out there) to see whether he has some sort of protective factor that’s allowed him to live so long with a usually very deadly disease.

Has anyone else with motor neuron disease lived this long I wonder.

Kristen Schaal day would fun.

Also.... that a nationalised health service works pretty damn well.

He actually owns a patent on it. For Theory of Everything they were initially quite nervous about getting him to let him license it and were scrambling for alternatives for a while, but he liked enough to say yes.

Sir David Attenborough would have been amazing.

You understand that Michael Caine is pretty much the James Earle Jones of England right?

“Who do I want to sound like Saturday? Charo or Jerry Lewis?”

All you have to do to say his name like he does is say “my cocaine.”

The correct answer, BTW, is either James Earl Jones or Sam Elliott.

Faaabulous Michael Caine or gtfo

As much as I like Fry, if I had a chance to go around sounding like Michael Caine, I’d go with Caine. His voice is just too much fun.

If I was Stephen Hawking, I pick a whole bunch of “famous”’voices (men and women) and use a different one each day, just to fuck with people.

Stephen Hawking is 75 years old. At age 21, he was told he had about two years to live. No point to this except that every time I see his name I remember how old he is and think “man that guy is tenacious.”

He’s sticking with the DECtalk voice though right? I’ve read that he’s been offered improved voices but he now relates to the sound of the DECtalk as being ‘His Voice’.

How do you not give it to Stephen Fry? :-)
