But they were still referred to as such. She was literally ignored, no catchy alias or real name.

Those drivers were all introduced under an alias/character. It was a thing to not know them, which is why the Stig wore a full face helmet.
We can see half her face and her name is in the credits. So no real reason to not at least use her name the first time she appears on the show.
Except the bits about May having to push him around were some of the funniest parts of the show!
In multi-driver events there’s a good chance every driver already has their own seat insert. Maybe the biggest driver doesn’t, but the rest build up the seat from that size.
Maybe woman would be more interested if they felt welcomed. Little girls literally said they didn’t think they were allowed to race, so why would they be interested in that?
Have you watched an F1 race lately? The grid girls aren’t wearing sponsors, they have some sexy version of clothing the host country is known for.
Models at a fashion show are the reason for the event, therefore they aren’t scenery in that setting. Drivers and cars are the reason for a race, models aren’t needed to line a hallway.
When little girls are there as fans, the overwhelming majority of women they see as part of the event as currently in the scenery category. They see that and assume that’s all there is to do in motorsports. Maybe they will see the very few women working on teams in engineering roles, but depending on the series, fans…
Maybe more women would be interested in motorsports if they had other options beyond scenery.
This is why I’m sorta afraid to start instructing. I’m sure I’ll get a guy who won’t listen to me and the next thing I know he’ll have us backwards into a wall.
I don’t think wanted to be treated like a human being is asking for a hand out, but ok.
Have you asked a woman how she feels about that? I have never heard of a group of men being referred to boys, it’s always guys.
I was at a track day this past summer at my new home track. I was wearing a hat with just the track outline of Road America, my previous home track where I have almost 2,000 miles on track. I had a guy I still don’t know come up to me and the first thing he said was “Have you actually been there or do you just have…
Get rid of the grid girls. When a woman says she has a favorite driver, don’t make snarky comments it’s only because of his looks. Do you ever invite your female friends and relatives to watch or go to a race?
Or women look at motorsports where currently 99% of the visible women are in bikinis or head to toe Spandex and are only there to look pretty and hand out trophies, and they decide to nope right out.
I’ve been at probably the same event as you (charity benefit track day and dinner at a resort?) and Hobbs and his stories were the highlight for sure.
NBCSN aired the races live?
That makes sense, but I feel like they have enough money to have both ready. Hamilton still hasn’t cinched it and they knew that for the podium.
A lot of people blame the Road America race for why Milwaukee lost theirs.
