Always take the time to learn new skills as they develop and follow the progression of new trends.
“There you go: An excuse to make a whole pot of coffee for yourself”
Being honest with ourselves in counting calories goes a long way. If I drink 32 oz of a wonderful IPA I don’t pretend it was a 12 oz light beer on my fitness app.
I find it helpful to attend events in my field, It’s a great way to learn or at least become inspired. Meetups and inexpensive local conferences can be useful depending on the field. I work in WordPress development so it’s rather easy and inexpensive.
At least they didn’t replace light sabers with walkie-talkies
My parents still shop at Costco, it’s just the two of them and they don’t really need to stock that outdoor freezer with 10 pizzas and 16 pot pies.
Perhaps shampoo is a poor example. Let’s say tastes change and you’re stuck with a supply you’ll never use. I have a few friends into couponing and its taken over all their storage space. Frequently they end up with too much stuff.
Great advice, I would add avoid looking at advertisements, store ads and coupons for the sake of finding a good deal on items you didn’t need already. No one needs 8 bottles of shampoo for instance.
GTD works, I made some minor adjustments. Rather than an “At Desk” to-do list I place each task on my daily calendar assigned to a time.
I would add.. Discover what time of the day you’re most productive and protect that time.
A peanut butter and Jelly sandwich seems to work for me. Sounds crazy but two slices of wheat bread two table spoons of peanut butter and one tablespoon of grape jelly comes in at about 400-450 calories. If I need a quick snack I cut the portion in half. I’m not sure why it works for me but it does.
I would have added, blocking a person’s path and trying to strike up unwanted conversations.
I regularly sleep about 5 hours each weeknight especially the last several weeks. unsurprisingly I haven’t lost a single pound during that time.
For the first time in years I’ve finally made weight loss a priority. What’s worked for me this time is actively identifying daily habits every week or so and making a daily effort to break the routine.
I take my goals one day at a time, yesterday is yesterday, today is now and tomorrow is a long way away. I tend to procrastinate so if I can focus on today and now I’m less likely to put off progress.
I needed to read this. The last 3 weeks my calorie counting has led to a plateau at roughly my current weight.
I will only buy my cars used and never newer than 2 years. That helps with depreciation a bit as the car loses about 30% of it’s value in 2-3 years.
I’ve been applying similar principles at work. “Every thing has it’s place.” At the end of the work day I either toss or file an item and quarterly review my files and my desk drawers to decide if I still feel like I need it. Chances are if I haven’t touched it in 3 months it’s ready to be tossed. It started as a time…
Bought two cars at CarMax over the last 15 years. I won’t buy a car anywhere else they’re that good at what they do.
