putting down a woman for liking to show off her body is what the patriarchy wants. 

Yeah, I am always fascinated how the comments about Kardashian revert to “she is a successful business woman is therefore the pinnacle of feminism.” Like what? 

Trying to shame a movie star for ‘no one knowing who she is’ is super weird because most of Kim’s fans have to be closer to Chloe’s age than Kim’s. So I would think they definitely know who Chloe is.

I’m ashamed to say I also remember the part of the feud where Khloe then posted a photo of a young woman in a swimsuit and said it was CGM and proceeded to body shame her over it. Or something like that.

Agree-- the attitude here and elsewhere is like, she’s awesome because she made money. Or something. And we’re not supposed to notice how vapid, plastic, and harmful the whole thing is. 

Kudos to the Deadspin folks for not being complete troglodytes. The attitude the Jez writers seem to take on Kim (in my brief overview of KK articles posted recently) seems to be “Kim Kardashian does this thing”. And even when it’s an objectively harmful thing (laxative lollipops, anorexia as compliment) the tone is…

I hear you and your thoughts. But maybe it’s about context...Kim doesn’t operate in such a way that is constructive for the perception of the value women beyond their physical looks.

Kim is emotionally immature and so self-absorbed she really thinks “Yeah, but I’m rich and famous” is an intelligent response. She’s a vapid, clueless brat.
