Someone moved out & left appliances on the curb!

What did you think ‘free range’ meant?

You mean all those pigeons out by the dumpster?

Ya know, since theropod dinosaurs were the ancestors of birds, couldn’t we get some T-Rex DNA arranged and start with Tyranno-sandwiches?

I’m a Cornish game hen man, myself!

What I’m hearing is a market for smaller birds.  Kentucky Fried Squab, perhaps?

OK Boomer

It’s super lazy of the choreographers to not be bothered to look for South Asian dancers.

I get it, Alex Wong is contractually obligated to be in every televised dance production.  But there are other dancers.

I mean it’s an Indian song originally performed by Indian performers from an Indian movie that deals with Indian history and anti-colonial sentiment.

The Oscars are about $, nothing else.

A child of the 1760s? Whatever else happened during your upbringing, I can’t imagine it involved anyone actually teaching you how to write in English.

‘But a Bollywood version of Roots would of course be totally inappropriate, considering the painful history of slavery and the gravity of the work’

Will Smith tried to add an action sequence once, but it was poorly choreographed and everyone kinda lost their minds over it.

It’s a movie that is about India and it’s identity as they struggle against white colonists. Having no south-asian dancers in the song is a total slap in the face.

There are plenty of dancers of south asian descent around LA. The problem is that not being able to fly out the OG dancers on what appears to be unusually short notice (which is also super-suspect), they apparently didn’t even fucking try. They could also have found plenty of south asian dancers that in India itself.

god i’m gonna regret replying to you but i’m bored. do you think Everything Everywhere All At Once was a foreign film? furthermore do you think it’s an award based on which movie grossed the most?

Heh. Awkward. (This is the part where everyone stays mum because we all just assumed those lead dancers WERE South Asian ;)

I have no comment on this specific issue, but I have always found the Oscars overwhelmingly boring. When are they gonna fix that?

Is it cultural appropriation to recreate a dance from a fun, blockbuster movie? I understand the offensiveness in appropriating meaningful cultural or religious traditions. But I feel like light weight, crossover media marketed toward an international audience is fair game for international reinterpretations.

Did you strain your back crowbarring that one in?
