Love and acceptance? That show is nothin but potshots at every possible target from every possible angle.

You’re missing the point. Yeah, I could play pretend that it’s weekly. But reviews still won’t come out weekly. I can’t have a water-cooler chat weekly. I can’t go online and speculate about what’s going to happen weekly.

Yes.

Yep, this could be a problem with children who reside at a university that don’t come home every 30 days.  Seems like they didn’t think this policy out quite fully.

Exactly. I was actually really interested in 1899. I loved Dark. But I knew exactly what Netflix was going to do with it, and I just couldn’t bring myself to watch it because I already knew its fate. That’s the other thing that Netflix has done to shoot themselves in the foot. Viewers don’t trust Netflix anymore. They

Seriously. They’ve completely destroyed word of mouth. You can’t talk about these shows with anyone unless you’ve both finished it. And there’s no internet buzz. It seemed like there was a new Andor article on The AV Club or Gizmodo almost every day that the show was on.

They’re so attached to the binge-watching model, but that gives shows a shelf life of about eight minutes. If you don’t watch it on day one or within the first few days, the cultural conversation has moved on. Shows don’t get a chance to build momentum. I remember when Chernobyl premiered after GoT on HBO. It had no

Not *just* college students.

2017, they said this:

I’m absolutely mystified by this lack. I’d be willing to pay a bit more so my mom (fixed income) and my brother (actual monk with a vow of poverty) can share my account. We benefit and Netflix benefits because that’s more money they otherwise would not get.

College students are gonna pirate sooooo much shit.

I don’t think Netflix will see a huge amount of lost paying customers but I suspect a lot of people who share passwords will not be signing up themselves.

I know this isn’t what you’re talking about, but it made me realize that rich olds will also be affected; but if they can afford to be snowbirds they’ll probably grumble about how it’s Obama’s fault but still pay for two subscriptions.

I don’t set aside my weekends to binge watch whatever Netflix drops every week

Cynically, this is their entire point. They want Parent 1 and Parent 2 to have two netflix accounts under the new system.

Man, I’m hoping it leads to mass cancellations. Netflix isn’t worth it anymore, honestly, none of the streaming services are worth it to me for a full year. Most of them I’m done after a month or two and ready to find other content. Plus Netflix is the absolute worst about cancelling shows, why commit to watching

The dumbest part of this is doing this “crackdown” and not also offering a multi-family option. When Spotify rolled out this option a couple years ago I happily plunked down more money to let my brother get Spotify (he’s on disability). I get wanting people to pay for the service, but like other people said here,

I’m wondering how Netflix plans to handle the case of “households” not being defined by a physical location. After all, they don’t have Household Plans... they have Family Plans. A family is not a household. I have a daughter in her first year of college. She’s doing school full time and not working. She’s on my

This is going to be exceptionally annoying for anyone who splits time between multiple households. My parents live in two separate households I split my time between, but I’m the netflix account holder. Their TV’s are hardly portable.
