Ugh. i hate that line of reasoning. I love the response from the congresswoman, though. Spot on by her.

Thats the kicker- theyre perma-part timers so Walmart doesnt have to pay them benefits, but Walmart is fully capable of paying for its part time employees benefits. On top of paying them a fair, livable wage.
Me too. I wish we had more of him.
I don’t think we can separate economic systems with systems of governments, but I believe that classifying communism automatically as evil completely ignores authoritarian governments that have capitalistic systems.
Okay this really sticks in my craw:
Me too. I have a bunch of assholes in my family, but they aren’t the type to do that. Christ, take the “L” and move on.
Communism is not the same as authoritarianism, people. What kills people is not economic systems, but how they’re governed.
Rightt. It’s infuriating. It’s almost like they’ve stuck their fingers in their ears and shouted “LALALALALALALA. I CAN’T HEAR YOU!!”
That’s what I was worried about with Janus. Like opting out of paying for something but still reaping the benefits of it. I don’t include people who are not offered to pay for unions, but are still beneficiaries of them (my workplace’s part time workers are not required to pay dues, but still benefit from union…
A lot of our society is build on democratic socialism, though. Our pride in public schooling, the infrastructure that was build (but is now decaying because of a fear of going too close to socialism), the SSN, Medicaid/Medicare, and so forth. There can be a balance. What we’re seeing, though is a system where the…
OMG the comments on this tweet are gold, though. I’d say the majority of them are telling the OP that this is nothing to be proud of.
Yeah. Some of his good things that he does are cynical as hell, but I’m like, meh, I’ll take it. Still voting against the fucker in every primary though.
Tell that to the decrepit and dying Main Streets that are losing to mega box stores like Walmart, Home Depot. Not to mention Amazon.
Agreed. Five page papers were basically busy work in my major. But damn if they didn’t add up by the end of the semester. 25 page history papers were like the gold standard for my profs. Imagine having to do four 20-25 page papers for the end of the semester instead of tests...
Since when did wanting a healthy capitalist system that works for all (or a system that works for all)Americans a bad thing? Good Christ, its almost like they forgot that without rules and regulations that were usually brought on by companies being too greedy and not self regulating.
Reading roughly a book a week, and then writing about them. And just easy papers, either. I had a class that had people write 5 page research style papers on certain topics found within the book a week.
There seems to be the connection between employer paid health insurance and the worthiness of people to have access to healthcare. Like, I used to hear this all the time. That person doesn’t work, so he doesn’t deserve care. Or, in my case, I’ve worked a lot at part time jobs, but only one employer offered health…
I’m glad Kerry threw the “Are you Serious?” line out there. Like, dude we know you’re spewing bullshit, stop trying so hard.
yup. I agree - I admire her for her ability to survive her time in prison and come out ready to help people.
snow ball guy wins every time for stupidest thing said on climate change in congress.
