But literally everyone I’ve heard discuss them are middle aged women. That’s not a judgement, it’s a fact.
Ok I’m glad you like them. But I still don’t know what they’re about, which was the point of this post lol
What does raw and honest mean? Like is it interpersonal relationships or self-discovery or what?
I’m not hating, I know literally nothing else about them. Including, up until an hour or so ago, that Ferrante is not the authors actual name.
Lol I’m serious though. I work at a bookstore and everyone I’ve heard talk about them has been a middle aged woman
So what’s the story with her books? All I know is that middle aged women rave about them.
I’d guess it starts with “Mom/Dad/Teacher, Boy is pulling my hair!” “Oh he’s just doing it for attention. He must like you!”
That’s awesome, I love hearing that the people we love from afar are just as lovable up close. And yes, I was disappointed in the movie. I’d love to see a real live action with her as a major creative force behind it, especially to make sure they get the casting right.
The editions of Earthsea I was reading had explanations at the end, her talking about how it came about and she talks about getting women writers and women characters into fantasy. Made me so happy to read.
Earthsea is great, but if you like more sci-fi you can check out the Left Hand of Darkness. She conceptualizes an alien planet populated by humanoids with a whole different reproductive and gender system. It's considered pretty revolutionary.
My library (my last two libraries, actually) has a system called Overdrive. You log on with your library card on the app or in browser and pick up to 5 or 6 books to download. They offer multiple file formats, but I select Kindle. It takes me to Amazon, where I can sync the book to my Kindle. I can also create wish…
I love borrowing books onto my Kindle. Do you use Overdrive? I just borrowed the Earthsea series from Ursula K Leguin. It's a fantasy series from a famous sci-fi author. While two of the books (including the first, a Wizard of Earthsea) are pretty lacking in women, the other two feature a woman as the main character.
When you're a not-rich grad student, you figure you have to make up for lack of money spent with the thought put in.
“In addition” is a great suggestion. When my brother got married, I knew his fiancee loves margaritas, so I bought their requested margarita glasses ASAP and gifted them with good tequila, agave, and rim salt.
I had to check I hadn't stumbled onto The Onion with that headline...
If you’re stung in a central New Jersey river or bay, it might be worth getting it checked at a hospital. There’s a clinging jelly that’s already hospitalized one, can cause kidney failure if left untreated.
When is this deal good through? Today only? I might pick up some prescription sunglasses.

Except large busted women are often called sluts for no other reason than their (uncontrolled by them) breast size.
I saw something similar, someone saying a man walking into the bathroom better be ready for her gun. Someone replied “You’re going to shoot her because of her gender? That’s by definition a hate crime and she’s definitely allowed to defend herself with her own gun.”
