I guess that's what I'm looking for. I'm not sure how that could be measured, though.

Totally unrelated to my last comment, but I just checked Facebook and saw a totally 'blame the victim' post put up by my sister-in-law that made me so angry that I had to vent, and this seems at least slightly related. It said, "Hey Girls- dressing immodestly is like rolling around in manure. You'll get attention,

I wonder what kind of pressure could be placed on Forbes to include sexual assault statistics as a part of their decision process on what makes the best school.

My take on this is that kids are really, really dumb.

I'm usually not one for dresses or high fashion, but that blue dress at the top makes me want to play princess NOW.

A different article about this mentioned that George H W Bush lost a child to leukemia 60 years ago. I didn't know that, and it makes this story so much more sad.

That doesn't ring a bell, but after a while all the faux-VC Andrews books seemed to blend together. Nice sweet innocent girl is moved into a new home for various reasons where the evil sort-of-but-not-really-related guy creeps on her until she escapes to or with the help of the nice not-related-at-all-guy.

For years I bought every book "V.C. Andrews" wrote, hoping to come across something as wonderfully twisted as this book and "My Sweet Audrina", but everything seemed flat and boring. Then I found out the truth about her authorship and felt cheated.

Cmon. EVERYONE knows that female nudity is artistic and beautiful, and male almost-nudity is just wrong and must be censored so our delicate lady-eyes don't see anything we shouldn't.

I kind of feel for the first writer. I grew up in a Dutch-Canadian community, and can remember seeing a black person for the first time in real life when I was 11. When I went away to college, there were no black people in my classes (Canadian college is different than American colleges for reasons I won't get

Did I say that we should go into the villages and, as white overlords, forbid it? Did I even say I was white, for that matter? I just denied the possibility that these girls, if given the true facts, would ever willingly submit to the practice.

Find me one report of a girl who, when given all the factual knowledge of the procedure and the likely complications, still wants it done. I'll wait here.

I have no strong opinion on male circumcision. I think it's generally unnecessary, but there's no comparison to a practice that leaves EVERY SINGLE woman who goes through it unable to have enjoyable sex for the rest of her life, and has such a high risk of other complications and early death.

Dang. I kept refreshing BBC news today, waiting to find out, just because even though I don't care an enormous amount, I kind of thought it'd be cool if it were female.

I could only get about 20 seconds in before I felt like the constant zooms were going to give me a seizure.

No, but not a single episode went through where they didn't talk about guys.

Can I disagree? The show was about the most vapid people ever whose lives revolved around guys. Seriously- not a single episode passed the Bechdel test.

And thus did magazines like Playboy rejoice.
