It’s not about winning and losing. It’s about actual interaction with the plot. A book is just a plot that you read through. If a “game” just has you click to advance the linear plot, it’s just an e-book. If a game is just an activity, then literally anything that anyone finds amusing is a game. Let’s play a game

We’ll just add this to the list of things the next Call of Duty won’t have, alongside things like “a need to be released so soon” and “a demand for a new Call of Duty game.”

This. It’s very over-generalized, “hands-off” decision-making. To put it overly simply, it occurs when the business side of game development strong-arms the artistic side. When each is allowed to do what it’s meant to do, everything works great.

Ironic that you’re the one jumping to an overly specific conclusion about the person you’re claiming is jumping to an overly specific conclusion, when nothing was even mentioned about doubt, much less about the difference between her and any other pilot.

I always knew a great deal of the feedback developers got for balancing weapons and such in games like this was completely unbased, but this just puts it into perspective. :).

I don’t understand why SO MANY GAMES release without this option built-in, and most go forever without it seemingly ever considered for addition.

I believe the good doctor was speaking more to statistics, and not to inherent traits of all 40-ish-year-old men. Even so, it’s good for people like Reluctant Mrs. Robinson to know about your existence. :)

Indeed. This is such a trend in games now, too. Has been for at least 4 or 5 years. Do they not know how console setups work or something? Do developer think we’re all playing on Oculus headsets now? *shrug*

One bit of the eye strain problem is actually caused by the fact that we tend to blink less often when super focused on a video game. Not only should you take a little eye break and look at something roughly 20 feet away, but apparently rapidly blinking for that 20-30 seconds of focusing on a real-world, distant

It’s getting a bit ridiculous. The line of reasoning is “you did something that sheds light on a difference between two different subgroups of humans, and THIS IS INHERENTLY BAD!” But then, we’re supposed to be tolerant and embrace other cultures, and basically just treat everyone as a human. So... just going around

Hear hear! Really though, I think people tend to be WAY too harsh on games nowadays. I mean, by all means, FFXV wasn’t perfect, and we should give proper feedback on what it did wrong. But if you’re not 10 and reviewing games, you should be able to objectively break down what parts of a game are good and what parts

Many thanks for the explanation. I knew direction for the game had changed hands roughly halfway through, and couldn’t remember who was who. Good to know it was the rescuer, and not the destroyer, who is getting his own studio. :)

I realize it’s not quite the most robust combat system, but I love that people think just because the combat is action combat that it’s “just mashing B.” There are a crap-ton of different movements and attacks you can do by actually timing your attacks and pressing different directions. Is it optional? Sure. But so is

Did Drake talk-”sing” everything on the stream? I bet if he got into books-on-tape, they’d get everyone interested in literary classics, because they’d just think he released a really long new album. “This is Drake reading Crime and Punishment, slightly auto-tuned for some reason.”

I believe the point might have been that the enjoyment level, itself, doesn’t actually increase, or rather that it increases artificially. I could be mistaken.

My favorite part was that our only problem with Walmart should be that they sell guns and ammo. Otherwise, they deserve all our hard-earned money, unlike Amazon. :)

Sounds about like my sentiments on FTL. :)

3 is only better than 4 because it’s less Bethesda-tized. Both are pretty meh, in the context of the franchise.

Exactly. I apologize if that wasn’t clear. When I typed it, it read as on “obviously there’s no correlation between video games and violence,” but it honestly might not have read that way to others who didn’t think the words before typing them. Sorry about that.
