Americans are too concerned with Honey boo boo, and American Idols to worry about anything else. I think kickstarter for science might be a good approach. I think crowd-sourcing like NASA's zooniverse is also great idea.

Actually in this case the science was shoddy. But that brings up why we need completely independent research especially aimed toward human benefit not monetary gain!

Personally I love to see stuff blow up and FX on the big screen and save the personal drama to my personal theater (less care when I can pause if I missed dialog...) or a discount theater.

This what still surprises me about unsuccessful attempts at creating an artificial inhabitable biome. It is basically the same thing right? Just on a much larger scale. It may help us to take plants not just across and ocean but to other worlds!
