I’m a bit confused by the snarky tone about Jill Dillard’s choices regarding her parenting and childbearing decisions. Breast milk is not evil, disgusting, or inappropriate as food. It is healthy and appropriate for an infant, a child, even a grown-ass person if they so desire, and yes, even a dog. What a person

Funny timing. I just read this Fresh Air transcript, an interview with Alison Bechdel, last night. I found her take to be very interesting:

Boy, Demi Lovato really is that quote from Warren Beatty about Madonna: They don’t want to live off-camera, much less talk. There’s nothing to say off-camera. Why would you say something if it’s off-camera? What point is there existing?

For real. $250 on a casual dress? Are you kidding me? Plus, almost everything is very long and I’m 5' 2" which means it wouldn’t work.

Speaking of expectations - when you victim-shame, you can fully expect to get dragged for it.

This is dumb. I assume next they’ll claim antiquing is “garage sale gentrification.”

Aziz Ansari’s Master of None, a show that no one remembered”

Ugh. The more stories that come out about the lack of study of the effect of the vaccine on women the more on the fence I am about getting as a pregnant woman. I’m so in favor of vaccines generally. I have every one. My first kid has everyone. I’ve started to get the flu shot every year.

no one checked about fertility either but i’m sure that’s entirely unrelated to this article

Yeah, medicine has a long history of excluding women from research trials out of convenience (even female animals were excluded through the early aughts due to concerns that menstruation would interfere with research data).

This is a big deal, even if it isn’t a ton of money. We need to do better for all women, but especially for black women, whose lived experiences are disregarded to the point where people who are famous for their understanding of their body aren’t believed.

What is this language? “People with breasts.” “People whose bodies produce periods.” I find it horribly offensive and dehumanizing. Why not just say women?

This is probably going to end up being an unpopular opinion but...

It’s awful, I totally agree. And you have to wonder who really benefits from these divisions? I suspect it’s not trans people or feminists. At any rate, congrats on the pregnancy!

Where is the part where they want trans kids to die?

Thanks Esther. I’ve been missing your one-dimensional screeds.

1- “It’s incredibly obvious that it’s that one.” - I agree it’s obvious that it is part of the explanation. Of course liberating the expression of trans people will make more of them come out. But you can’t brush off that easily how the trans/non-binary movement is viewed and felt by teenagers today, and how it can

The article presents the situation as if there always has been a ton of kids asking for gender affirming therapy. But in fact, it was always a very limited number of people that did it. And the therapies available were limited, especially at the physical level.

Well, I will not speak for the assholes that just want to ban gender affirming therapy completely as they are just that : assholes.
