I had a very similar experience earlier this year with a movie called Spring which, now that I think about it, bears a striking similarity to Before Sunrise while still being something completely different. I highly recommend it.

And never feed them after midnight

Yes, through a weird thing that makes his voice sound like a robot from 1986. He also played with a guitar player who shredded strange, seemingly random notes over his strange, random dissonant electronic noise. All that coupled with really really really bizarre visuals. If I was watching while high, I may have died.

I was there and I can attest that Oneohtrix Point Never was weird as fuck

Sun Ra Arkestra

That setlist for SFA was practically perfect. The most frustrating moment of the weekend was being forced to leave the crowd during their set to go to the bathroom and then hearing the starting notes of "Mountain People" from the back of a very long porta-potty line.

"Come on Feel the Illinoise" made me nearly cry. Maybe my all time favorite Sufjan song and the first time seeing him play it live. Also, opening with "Seven Swans"? Holy fucking shit. That was powerful stuff.

Kamasi was a blast. Just really enthralling, melodic rhythmically dense jazz. It was a total dance party (for me, anyway). Really bummed I skipped out on Miguel for Thundercat. Thundercat struck me as just a little too much wankery and not enough song. Many people were into it though, so to each their own.

Speaking of which, where is that Dan in Real Life sequel we're all clamoring for?

One Crazy Summer is the spiritual sequel to Better Off Dead.

A Place of Greater Safety by Hilary Mantel. It's been slow going as I've just started a new job. This is a book that really benefits from reading large chunks at a time because of the multitude of characters. I'm also not super up on my French Revolution history which occasionally makes things a bit hard to follow.

He discovered fast travel

When did Varys discover fast travel?

It's called tear-jerking.

Psh. Big deal. What does he want? Some kind of award or something?

I actually just rewatched this last year and it's still a lot of fun. The movie is filled with so many hilarious little throwaway lines throughout the whole thing.

Halfway through Wise Man's Fear? That's the perfect place to stop.
