That Lebron highlight is terrible. In a game that featured so many brilliant moments, that might be the least basketball savvy play of Lebron’s career. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Having a euro soccer highlight but not a single college or professional football highlight is the most Deadspin thing ever.

I think the defenses were better. The team play was far better. And the quality of goalie (if not their padding, for god’s sake) was far better. It was so much harder to get up and down the ice, which was Gretzky’s game.

Also, you realize he retired in 1999 and almost his entire Kings career was in the 90s, right?

Well, in fairness, he played in a much more physical league and in the golden age of goalies. (The number of amazing goalies in the 90s was ridiculous.)  But I dont disagree with your premise that the overall skillset of goaltenders has risen.

It was Feast and Dance that were split into two after starting at one book. There’s some holdover material from Dance (the Battle of Mereen) that will go into TWOW instead of Dance (so there are pages written) but it’s incorrect to say Dance and TWOW were ever going to be one book.

Even taking their account of the events, several of these players are absolute scumbags and dangerous. And that’s if you take their own accounts.

Sure, I’m well aware of that. But it doesn’t make them a sequel to ASOS. They’re books four and five of a series.

That makes no sense. You want a sequel to the third book in the series? If anything, it’s a sequel to Game of Thrones. Or you can view it as a series. But in almost no sense is the Winds of Winter a sequel to Storm of Swords.
