I actually liked the way the 1st gen GLA looked. [As long as you paid their ridiculous price to upgrade the headlights to not be halogen reflectors] It was a cute little wagon. After riding in a CLA250, it was a nonstarter as the interior was so cheap it was appalling.

The thing is, it’s actually a good car (from what I’ve read).

They just used the wrong brand for it. And I still haven’t seen a rational explanation for that decision. The only thing that makes any sense is they just wanted an easy way to boost sales numbers instead of trying to build a new reputation for a new model.

In this case, yes, the Turo insurance should cover this, IMHO (but I would not be surprised if they worm their way out of it). The insured is the owner of the truck, they are in the business of renting them, and it’s not like you can vet who is going to decide to be a vigilante with your truck. So Turo should pay out

The difference is, we’re not talking about replacing a handful of broken mechanical devices and then adjusting the manufacturing process to prevent the issue in the future. I cannot make sense of the driver’s actions. Yes, the gate is stuck, but it’s made of wood (polymer?), and will break off when you reverse off the tracks. Which is always the best course of action. There’s literally not an action worse than abandoning the vehicle on the tracks.
