In this case, yes, the Turo insurance should cover this, IMHO (but I would not be surprised if they worm their way out of it). The insured is the owner of the truck, they are in the business of renting them, and it’s not like you can vet who is going to decide to be a vigilante with your truck. So Turo should pay out

I’ve never been less shocked by anything involving Elon Musk in my life.

100% bad choices, not fact of life.

I guess Toyota should stick to boring sedans.

Who did you let make these picks? A group of caffeinated metrosexual millennials who drive Subarus and carry purses? I’m surprised the Lamborghini from Cannonball Run didn’t make the list.

See, this is the thinking of a man who doesn’t get porsche owners.

Just another example of how Elmo thinks he’s too cool for school and knows more than a 125-year-old auto industry. No RADAR/LIDAR, no instrument cluster, sharp edges all over the Cybertruck, etc. Great powertrains trapped in cars that in eternal beta-test with their paying customers as the testers.

Not just arrogant, but all just plain stupid. Clearly the opinion of a very dumb person who doesn’t know shit about technology. Even layman can understand the huge advantages of radar and lidar tech, which could have made could have gotten them to L3 driving by now if that moron wasn’t at the helm.

You could have just stopped after “Elon is an arrogant ass”

The difference is, we’re not talking about replacing a handful of broken mechanical devices and then adjusting the manufacturing process to prevent the issue in the future. The way I’m reading this, Tesla is updating specific accounts with software patches, based on the fame of the user and their specific concerns.

Oh, no, Elon Musk is losing more per minute than the average American makes in a year. Somebody save him before he has to live like a …*GASP*… normal person!

I guess don’t use camera based systems in fog. They should have stuck with radar sensors.

Chrysler needed to start with a better car.  Unfortunately, it had no better cars.

Yes, yes they are. Because they expect the promised range, and that is how Tesla calculated that range. There is no defending this.

no you misunderstood I was the lead engineer, I was in charge of putting lead in the thing to ummm reduce vibrations !

And GM deciding 3 isn’t important is going to bite them so hard.

I cannot make sense of the driver’s actions. Yes, the gate is stuck, but it’s made of wood (polymer?), and will break off when you reverse off the tracks. Which is always the best course of action. There’s literally not an action worse than abandoning the vehicle on the tracks.

Humans suck in general; ducks, in general, do not suck. I know what I’d want to save.

Unfortunately, if you don’t have enough situational awareness to realize that the cops are try to get you to pull over, you should NOT be driving. And, while tasing is both “bad” and, given the clarity of 20/20 hindsight, unnecessary, it still beats the alternatives of bullets or a PIT maneuver.

Traffic stops should not receive the death penalty.
