Now, granted, I’m an older white dude, but I know me and my friends actually thought S2 was BETTER than S1. Just saying I’m not sure Netflix is doing this because of a tonal shift or (as you imply) a drop in quality. Doesn’t make the decision less curious for me, though, quite the opposite. 

You’re probably right. I don’t remember the movie that well and was just responding to the original poster, who I think mischaracterized how the movie treated Pierce Brosnan’s character.

Sure, but the movie isn’t really on Robin Williams’ side and it’s not like he succeeds in breaking them up.  One of the (few) things I respect about “Mrs. Doubtfire” is that it didn’t get them back together in the end.
