Boras is pissed because he weaponizes secrecy. His trademark is the rumored “mystery team” that gets a team to bid against itself. I doubt this affects their relationship much anyway. If a player says he wants to play in DC or says he will take the highest offer and Washington makes that offer, it is the agent’s legal

I mean, come on:

I’m not one to victim blame, but when you choose General Zod as your figure skating partner, you pretty much get what you deserve.

Speaking as a Cardinals fan: you’re dead on, but sometimes peanuts are good. That is to say, this may be a trade that serves each team’s needs. Carson Kelly is “Major League Ready” defensively, but he’s looked lost at the plate when he’s been called up. Weaver is a nice young pitcher, but the Cards have a (relative)

“Best” does not necessarily mean “good.” For instance, the Orioles “best” prospect is Yusniel Diaz, the 138th best prospect in MLB on Fangraph’s list. The Padres’ 12th best prospect is ranked well ahead of him. As are the White Sox 11th best, and the Rays and Braves 9th best.

Rob Manfred: [looks at 14,000-person crowd at Chase Field to see the 14-30 Diamondbacks play next June] Baseball is in decline because of the shift.

legal weed in Washington, you know Walton loves those trips!

I would normally agree with you, but the Mets gave up their second best prospect (and a potential everyday player to boot) for Robinson Cano’s contract and a closer, mostly because of a GM who is nostalgic for his former client. So this is all relative. The Mets set the precedent for stupidity this offseason.

Well, if Goldschmidt came with more team control you’d have to give up a main page plus. Say Deadspin or Splinter with some subs from the other sites- The Slot and Cosplay, maybe.

They did not give up peanuts. They gave up young, developing players. 2 of them (Kelly and Weaver) are 50 FV prospects per fangraphs, which means average major league starters. Young is a 40 FV prospect, but is a 2B who has hit well at just about every stop in the minors, and hit with power not usually seen at that

If Weaver and Kelly don’t contribute then yes D Backs got fleeced. But I agree with you, they got two guys who are Major League ready, its not like they are getting two low-A ball players. If I am a D Backs fan I’m not happy losing my best player but I am watching next year to see what the young guys they got back can

They took the offer that didn’t involve Tim Tebow.

This all day. Weaver’s advanced metrics (spin rate, break, etc) have him within the top 50 pitchers in baseball based on Eno Sarris breakdown. He could go even higher if he puts it all together with better control and sequencing.

Goldschmidt is a free agent after this year

I think you’re being overly pessimistic on the return Arizona got. Goldschmidt is a free agent after this year and that tends to severely depress returns. Weaver was quite good in 2017 (and has something like 5 years of control left), and people seem relatively positive on Kelly and Young.

Did the D-Backs even call any other teams? Based on the Cano trade, the Mets would’ve given them the entire Binghamton minor league team.

The Ultimate Warrior?

Keep the jars of pickled eggs and jellied eels dusted. How hard can food safety in the UK be?

Hi, Julianne, I’d like to add a few things to the list of worst things to happen in an office bathroom. I work in an office park and share a bathroom with about 10 other companies, you need a key to get in, but frequently find customers/clients of other tenants using the bathroom. Here’s just a little taste of what I

Pretty much every politician ignored the AIDS crisis in the 80s and early 90s. As for the civil rights act, you’re right in that he campaigned against it to appeal to Texas voters, but as an actual congressman he supported it and voted for the Fair housing act, which got him in trouble with his constituents. He also
