Exactly— especially in Southland Tales (I love that movie and it is horrifying how much of is basically our current reality) where is playing fairly against type. The little jitters, anxious moves he makes... he is a character in that movie, not The Rock.

I miss early 2000's The Rock. The Rundown, Walking Tall, Be Cool, and Southland Tales were not amazing movies, but at least he was actually trying to act in those films. Now he’s just the same character in everything he does - big smoldering muscle man who is also very charming.
