Last week alone, three friends lamented to me about their marriage problems. Meanwhile, I don’t remember the last time I had a fight with anyone. I just love how peaceful and conflict-free life is when you’re single.

Sometimes I’m glad that I’m comfortable being alone.
pretty much agreed. admittedly, i might find this more grating than most because this is a trend i’ve been facing at work too (essentially, people getting banned for breaking rules and then begging to be unbanned because the ban is negatively affecting their health due to (x) mental health problem).
I don’t know her background so I want to tread lightly here:
yeahhh.... for better or for worse, paying your rent consistently late is not something you should hold up as proof that you’re being evicted for the wrong reasons. That’s the result of someone’s generosity. While nice, it’s not something legally binding and it’s pretty much a red flag that you don’t have a stable…
I’m no expert, but I think it may have more to do with the fact that she doesn’t pay her rent than anything else.

I grew up in a 200 year old Vermont parsonage (well, we moved there when I was 8 or 9). It was most definitely haunted, but the spooks were well-behaved and only did the usual floor walking and chair-rocking night escapades. Most of the time we barely noticed...even when I was a teen and moved downstairs to the…
And in historical fiction specifically, they’re both likely reading/visiting the same sources for research. Which, even if it doesn’t contain the exact same elements—like a black packhorse librarian—it can spark the same thought processes that might lead two different people to creating black packhorse librarians.…
Authors who work in similar genres or styles probably also listen to the same radio shows, read the same newspapers and magazines, and have friends in similar professions. I feel like the process where writers generate ideas is less like picking up signals from the universe than having ideas from other media implanted…
Did anyone notice the trend of titling books with the “[Masculine profession]‘s [feminine relation].” Examples: The Hangman’s Daughter, THe Apothecary’s DAughter, The Merchant’s Daughter, The Doctor’s Wife, The Goldsmith’s Wife, etc
This reminds me of the story in Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert where she and another author, unbeknownst to each other, had been developing an idea for a book that dealt with the same subject matter (I forget what specifically). The ideas were coincidental but there were enough specifics about each project for it to…
It’s funny how opinionated some people are about wedding dresses. Granted, it’s not my style at all but it’s not bad. At the end of the day, it really comes down to what the bride wants and feels good wearing.
Yes, I agree the dress is super pretty and as soon as you said funereal I was imagining it in black, and that’s even more yes. I’m not crazy about the oversized veil thing. I can’t help but think about how it’ll end up like Halloween fake cobwebs that have been up outside for a month. So full of debris. And I hate…
Extremely pretty. And I’m fascinated with that tiny string that goes across the back, thinking how my fat ass would bust through that in about two seconds.
I legit can’t with all of the haters in the comments here (and, for the record, I’m also someone who hates when people call people “haters,” SO LOOK WHAT YOU’VE MADE ME BECOME).
Back in the early 2000s I moved in with a now ex-boyfriend. He lived in a bungalow style house in one of the neighborhoods of a large midwestern city. This happened when I was taking a personal day from work after moving in to finish getting things arranged and unpacked.
I appreciate the ‘til death part. Morbid and kinda goth. Wish it was in a different font, tho.
