Oh I was super grateful. He didn't have to do that, and I literally cried at my desk when I saw the email (nobody was around, thank god!).

She spent about 2 months in the hospital.

I am one of far too many. I definitely appreciate your comment (seriously, thank you), but there are lots of moms in America that don't get any paid leave at all. It's a very real problem.

Guess how much paid time off I got after giving birth??

This. It's really awful, and a lot of people don't realize that food deserts exist.

That's the real question, isn't it?

I was giving an example of how much food can cost. Most people are familiar with chicken breasts. I don't actually spend $6/lb on anything lol.

The thing is... if we weren't so crippled by year-round family court cases, we'd be in great shape. With the money we spend on attorneys, we could have a down payment on a house. Or buy a reasonably nice used car. Or set up a great college fund for the kids.

No, I'm not. Even with skipping meals, I still average like 1200-1400 good calories (not junk food, though I do indulge sometimes) a day - even on days that I skip lunch. I kept track for a while when I was trying to drop some lbs before a wedding.

i usually get whole birds. They're typically most economical. Plus, husband loves skin and dark meat, while kids+me like white meat. Everyone's happy!

Please read more carefully before using insulting language. I gave the example of $6/lb breasts because I noticed it as I was picking up a roaster for dinner. It's a ridiculous price, which is why we usually buy whole birds.

thanks for understanding!

I have a friend who dated a girl that was dumb enough to believe that lobsters grew their tails back. I'm not even exaggerating.

I would if I could. I hate it here. But moving is out of the question, unfortunately.

Our closest grocery store is within walking distance. We live in a pretty nice suburb of a very large city. The store is not a Whole Foods- it's just a regular nice grocery store.

I enjoy lobster, but it is absolutely highly overrated. You're not missing out, and you definitely shouldn't literally risk your life to have a taste (though obviously you already know that!).

I like the idea of Yelp, but it's obviously a mess. D'you think someone could come up with a competitor that doesn't pull that bullshit?

My husband and I both work, but we don't make a lot of money. At one point, when it was just me working, we made $37 too much to qualify for food assistance.

Yeah, something looks off to me, too. Also, that dress isn't doing her any favors.

I agree with that - there can't be a picking and choosing over what is and isn't valid support for a belief.
