The issue isn't the age of the person pictured. I think the photographers retain the copyright unless they sign the appropriate release. I'd be pretty shocked if this is considered fair use, but I don't know if anyone is going to complain. I'm a librarian, so I'll be curious to see how this goes.

A genealogy search would need to be able to trace him to the right branch of the family to get his identity. I’m assuming that’s what they’re talking about. They didn’t get an exact match, they got a family match (maybe multiples, I haven’t read through this yet), and have to find the right person.

I’m really sorry about your dad! That must be difficult to watch.
