Jesus, for a second I thought I was reading my own comment. I’m also 43, and also lost my mom when I was in my early 30s. Dad died three years ago. Both of them just left me incredibly dysfunctional for a good while (yaaaaaay therapy).

THANK YOU! I’m 43 and realized more than 5 years ago that even 40 was a little old. My dad was 44 and my mom was 35 when I was born, and I lost both of them too young (mom was 67 and Dad was 82, so neither was young-young). I couldn’t do that to a kid in purpose.
